Qualification
for admission to Ph.D programme: Candidates for admission for Ph.D
programme in Engineering Departments must satisfy one of the following
criteria: I. Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology or
equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10
or equivalent (60% of marks) II. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/
Technology with an excellent academic record and with a CGPA of at least
9.0 out of 10 or equivalent (85% of marks) Candidates for admission for Ph.D programme in Science Department must satisfy the following criteria: I.
Candidates for admission to Ph.D programme in Science Departments must
have a Master’s Degree in the relevant Discipline (Physics/ Chemistry/
Mathematics) with a First class or a minimum of 55% of marks in the
subject or equivalent.
Candidates for admission for Ph.D
programme in Humanities & Social
Science : Department must satisfy
one of the following criteria: I. Candidates for admission to
the Ph.D programme in Humanities and Social Science must have a master’s
degree with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent. Candidates having MBA
degree are also eligible for perusing Ph.D programme under Humanities
and Social Science with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 or equivalent
(60% marks)
Selection Procedure : On
receipt of applications the candidates fulfilling eligibility
conditions are called for interview (Written / Oral). Selection is made
on the basis of performance of the candidates in the test / interview
and availability of seats.
Scholarship Facility : Regular full-time scholars may be awarded scholarship / Assistantship as
per MHRD / Institute guidelines.
How to apply
Interested
candidates should apply in the prescribed application format. The
envelope containing the duly filled in application form along with a
demand draft of Rs. 500/- (Five hundred) for OP & OBC candidates and that of Rs. 300/- for Sc & ST candidates to be drawn in favour of Registrar, NIT Agartala, Payable at SBI, NIT, Agartala branch (Code – 11491) should be super scribed “Application for Ph.D Programme , 2012 in … Department and must reach to the office of the Dean, Academic, NIT Agartala, Agartala- 799055 latest by 29th June, 2012.
All supporting documents as per application forms should also be
enclosed with the filled in application forms. No application will be
entertained without the demand draft.
